Since I know there are a few caretakers here I figured I'd ask, how enthusiastic are towns about folks wanting to clean up old forts? I've seen plenty that aren't only overgrown but tagged with graffiti as well. I have a few buddies I'm sure I could get together to clean off some brush and slap a coat of paint on an emplacement or two (yea I know paint isn't cheap!) but I don't know if towns even usually care that much to even allow it?

I think the answer depends on where you are and who you ask. If you were on Fishers Island, and you asked that question...you'd probably end up on the ferry back to NL in tar and feathers...
