For any of you living in or near to Seattle: About 25 years ago, I remember going with my family to Woodland Park - NOT the zoo, although it is nearby. I am reasonably certain I remember seeing two 6" guns in the park, I believe towards the edge near the road. They had shields and I believe they looked similar to those in the CDSG reference book "American Seacoast Defenses" on either page 92 or 96. (I admit my knowledge of seacoast artillery was pretty slim at the time!)

Has anyone seen them or remember seeing them? I live north of Seattle about 50 miles and generally avoid the city because of the traffic. But if nobody has any memories or knowledge, might be worth a look.

Update: I did some checking around and there are indeed two 6" guns in Woodland Park, in Seattle. However, they were removed from the old Navy gunboat Concord when it was scrapped in 1911, so they are 6" naval guns, not coast artillery pieces. Still, interesting to look at and maybe, later on, I can get some close-up pictures.

Here's a link to a picture of one of them, with the second one in the background:

I obviously don't know when the pictures were taken - I may go down and check them out myself. If I do, I'll take some pictures.
