Sometime in early 2013 the Corp of Engineers in Galveston deepened the drainage ditch just behind the seawall at Fort San Jacinto. In doing so they scraped and temporarily uncovered the remains of both Battery Hogan and Battery Heileman. I never expected to see any part of either battery because from what I read Heileman was destroyed and Hogan was under the seawall. Iíve included pictures of the remains of both along with a picture of when they were being built. Unfortunately they are both covered again in mud and water except for one gun ring on Hogan.
