As I understand it, on battleships, the Navy needs approximately 8 hours per barrel to replace a barrel. It is a dockside job, or probably a floating dry dock would serve as well.

What was the procedure to replace a 14" or 16" Coast Defense barrel?

Were barrels at the position or nearby or did they have to be ordered up?

There is also a the question of emergency replacement such as replacing a damaged barrel due to enemy action AND normal or scheduled replacement.

How big or complicated a job was replacing a barrel and how time consuming was this replacement process - scheduled and emergency?

I am not asking how many rounds before replacement but how big a job to replace a barrel - scheduled & wartime emergency replacement.
