Hines and Ward briefly mentions "sliding leaf" firing mechs, for button-type combination primers. I think the item in the slideshow is one of them. It was reportedly found in cosmoline in mud in a "bunker" in one of the Narragansett Bay installations around 1950.

I'm interested in finding drawings and photos of this configuration of firing mech. installed on a breech mech. I'd like to know what weapon(s) it fit. If it only fit one type of weapon, I'd like to know if anyone can find out where serial no. 12 was installed.
