BOLINAS IS NEW.......................

I thought I might post some pictures of the more obscure Harbor Defense of San Francisco locations. I will start north and work south, feel free to add any corrections or other information to the post. I will post some more tomorrow 19 Oct.

First off is Point Reyes site of a SCR 682 Radar, very easy site to get to

3 Site of SCR682 Radar

4 This piece of concrete is a mystery to me, any ideas?

5 and the Lighthouse

Next will be Wildcat site of 2 Fire Control stations and a SCR 296 Radar, this site is very difficult to get to and I would recommend not going alone. Take lots of water and some food. Everything as far as I can tell is buried at this site.

6

7 Fire Control Locations B7 S7 Townsley, B7 S7 Battery 129 These plants are 6 foot high....

8 plans for fire controls

9

10 SCR 296 Location for Battery 129

This will be Limantour Beach site of 2 155mm Guns and a BC station, this site is also very easy to get to..

next we have Bv Battery Alexander located at water's edge below Battery Rathbone and B' McIndoe located to the East of Battery McIndoe in August of 1998. The difficult part of getting to Bv Alexander is crossing the nude beach area at the bottom of the trail, nude guys Sad

Great photos! Is/are the stations in front of the lighthouse made of wood? Or is that board-marked concrete? Looks similar to the "disguised" cottage FC stations up here.

I will include Yellow Bluff just because I believe its in a Restricted Area due to plants and maybe wildlife.

Lets go back to Kirby Beach at Fort Baker, this is one of the few places that didn't feel safe to be alone, very isolated. I would suggest going with someone. Some of our California people might know more about the safety issue...
