To armyjunk,

Just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your pictures of the Air Force Museum. As someone who has tried to take museum pictures before, I can say they are truly exceptional - sharp with great exposure settings and no people to interfere with the view. Its obvious that you put a lot of work into the project.

I copied them all and now am thinking about visiting the museum again. The last time I went was in 1975. Didn't even have a camera. If I go, I will study your pictures before going so I can learn about some of the great photo angles and composition.

I am also considering cropping them to the 16 by 9 format for HDTV. I might add them to my personal collection and even label each one. You might be interested in how I cropped and labeled my collections from visits to the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. By researching the museum photo gallery and Wiki, I was able to identify the initial service date of each aircraft. It took awhile but organizing the collection by date resulted in some interesting information - like new prop planes entering service even after the advent of jets. It shed a whole new light on the actual chronological history of Naval Aviation. The site is at http://waynespictures4.shutterfly.com/

Tahnks again for the great pictures.

Wayne

I really enjoy your post of aircraft. Keep up the good work. I was looking for the Widow Maker F104.
When I was in Germany I had a flight in one. The pilot was 32 yrs old.
Two weeks later he crashed into the side of a mountian.

Army --

Great photos! I need to go back to Wright-Patt. Looks like they have added some stuff since I was there last.

I noticed that photo #183 is the same as #182, even though the caption is different. It's definitely not an F-106!

We flew a EB66, the first electronic war fare bird, to the muesum from Shaw AFB in 1968. Listed is an RB66. Is the EB66 still at the muesum?

armyjunk

I am a new member, so not quite sure if this message will get to armyjunk.

I want to let armyjunk know that I think the photos taken at the Air Force, Smithsonian and Naval Museums are great. I do not know how he got such great angle shots of the planes and lighting.

I have been going to the Air Force Museum since before it was moved from Wright-Patterson to its new location and new building. I have visited the Air Force Museum at least 30 times since 1958 and have no where the quality of pictures that you have posted. I last visited the museum back in June. The lighting within the museum is always so dim, so my patures are dark. I have been to the Naval Air Museum and the Smithsonian, but it has been at least 15 years since I have been to the Smithsonian. After seeing your pictures I will have to plan a trip back to the Smithsonian.

I do not what your interest is in aircraft, but if you have not been to the Hill AFB Aerospace Museum near Ogden, Utah or the Pima Musum in Tucson I highly recommend them. They both have over a 100 aircraft from early times up to the present. The planes within the museums are of the same condition as the Air Force & Naval Museums. The aircraft outdoors are weathered.

The Warhawk Museum, The Legacy Aircraft Museum and The Planes of Fame Mueum in Idaho and Utah are small, but have some P-51's, a rare P-63 King Cobra and an assortment of other WWII aircraft.

Within the next two months I plan on visiting the Warner-Robins AFB in Georgia. It looks like they have a nice collection of aircraft.

Thanks again for posting such great aircraft pictures.

Hi Army....

Can you contact me offline at wstrausbaugh@suddenlink.net? I am going to Wright Pat this weekend and want to ask you a few questions about your photos. I also reformatted some of your pictures for my personal collection to 16 X 9 format and would like you to see them. I have them behind a password on my website so don't want to post that info here.
