Overview map of the area.

Searchlight shelter for #6

Searchlight shelter for #5

Powerhouse from approach trail.

Powerhouse entry.

Powerhouse interior.

Controller booth atop triple BES, with SCR 682 radar control room to the rear.

Rear of Controller Booth, here one can clearly see the SCR 682 radar transmitter room. This is all atop of the triple BES serving all three 200 series batteries in HDCR.

RCW for controller booth.

There is no real trail down to the searchlight shelter of the powerhouse. You just amble along this overgrown area. There are some faint game trails, so it's not too bad.

Remnants of the old reservation fence. Apparently they had it going all the way down the bluff. It must have been interesting installing that.

Here is some paperwork for some light reading.

Enjoy!

Great photos of one of my favorite sites! Did you notice any signage or interpretation of the searchlights or BES? Last time I was there they had just put in a new paved trail to the area, but the only signs were about the weather station and nature stuff.

There are a few signs describing the BES and had some pictures of a cobbled together RCW that shows the BES, the Controller booth, and the SCR building. There was no signage indicating the locations of the search lights.

There are also other signs showing an photo of the area back when the site was an active military installation, including the SCR 296 that is further up the road. They did install a nice looking overlook at the end of the paved trail that looks over the bluff area with all sorts of nature information and Lewis and Clark stuff.
